Soweto Giants At It Again

Written by Super User.

The biggest tournament in the world is over and now it’s time to focus on our local football. All the roads lead to Soweto come Saturday afternoon.

The two Soweto giants Kaizer Chief and Orlando pirates will be facing each other at the calabash stadium otherwise known as FNB stadium. The tickets for the much-anticipated match have been sold out. The Carling Black Label cup is the annual tournament where sports fans are given an opportunity to select their first eleven in the starting line up and a fan will be a coach on each side.

Kaizer Chiefs is frustrating their fans by not signing quality players and are struggling to snatch back the Zimbabwean striker Knowledge ‘the smiling assassin’ Musona. Chiefs have signed a player who was a free agent Siphelele Mthembu after his contract ended with Platinum Stars and Levy Mokgothu from Moroka swallows. They’ve also renewed Josta Dladla’s contract with one year while Simphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker will be unavailable for selection.

On the other hand, The Mighty Mbakaniyas have signed Isaar Sar from Platinum Stars and a right back Itumeleng Tlali from Mbombela United. The troublemaker Lehlohonolo Majoro is facing his former team. His move from Chiefs to the Buccaneers was not a peaceful move as there were many quarrels in this deal. Pirates brought back the Serbian coach Vladimir Vermezovic after he left the country when he failed to deliver the goods at chiefs.

The boys from Naturena played a friendly match with the newly promoted Chippa united. The game took place at Chippa United’s new home ground in Port Elizabeth on the past weekend.

The fans have in their discretion to decide who will be in the field come Saturday 3:30pm. If a certain player isn’t performing to his level best, the fans can substitute the player by smsing .
